Desiraju Hanumanta Rao's prose rendering with embedded explanatory notes
The source notes the custom of a bride's family following the wedding party partway before parting, usually amid tears on both sides, since a married daughter belongs thereafter to her husband's house. It adds a poignant observation specific to Sita: unlike an ordinary bride, she never returns to Mithila after this. When Rama later abandons her, she does not go back to her father's house but returns instead into the womb of Mother Earth.
