Desiraju Hanumanta Rao's prose rendering with embedded explanatory notes
The source identifies Vishvamitra's comparison: Renuka is the mother of Parashurama and wife of Sage Jamadagni, descendant of Bhrigu. On one occasion Jamadagni ordered his son to behead her, and Parashurama unhesitatingly carried out the order -- hence his epithet Bhargava Rama, with an axe as his signature weapon. This Parashurama later confronts Rama of the Ramayana after Sita's marriage, making the comparison here a forward-reference within the epic's own timeline.
